Bihar Home Guard Corps 2025
Home guards are responsible for assisting the police in maintaining law and order, addressing specific situations, ensuring the provision of essential services during emergencies, and participating in disaster management efforts. In recent years, the scope of duties for the Bihar Home Guard Corps has expanded considerably. The assignment of Home Guards to active duty has resulted in an increase in their daily allowances and welfare benefits. As a result, the importance of the roles played by Home Guards and their contributions to society have become more pronounced. The objective of the e-Command initiative is to create detailed records concerning Home Guards and to automate and improve the transparency of the processes associated with their deployment and allowance disbursements.
Qualifications for Bihar Home Guard Recruitment 2025
- Candidates must be permanent residents of Bihar.
The enrollment of Home Guards will be conducted in a clean manner, organized by district according to the merit list at the district level. This process will adhere to the Bihar reservation policy and the guidelines outlined in the circulars issued periodically by the General Administration Department, Bihar, Patna. These guidelines ensure representation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes (including the third gender), Extremely Backward Classes, Backward Class Women, Economically Weaker Sections, and Women, and will remain in effect until the advertisement date. Additionally, reservations will be granted to the grandchildren of freedom fighters, in accordance with the circular from the General Administration Department, Bihar, Patna.

- Educational Qualification: As of January 1, 2025, the candidate must have successfully completed the Higher Secondary (Intermediate) examination or an equivalent assessment recognized by the State Government.
- Physical Ability: The candidate must possess the physical capability to perform challenging fieldwork.
Physical Efficiency Test for Bihar Home Guard Corps 2025
(a) Height: The required minimum height for male candidates across all categories, excluding those from the districts of Purnia and Kosi division, is 5 feet 4 inches (162.56 cm). For male candidates from the districts within Purnia and Kosi division (namely Purnia, Araria, Kishanganj, Katihar, Saharsa, Supaul, and Madhepura), the minimum height is set at 5 feet 2 inches (157.5 cm). Female candidates from all categories must have a minimum height of 153 cm.
(b) Chest: The minimum chest measurement without expansion for male candidates in all categories, except those from Purnia and Kosi division districts, is 31 inches (79 cm). For male candidates from the specified districts of Purnia and Kosi division, the chest measurement should be 30 inches (76 cm) without expansion.
Chest measurements are not required for female candidates across all categories.
Note: The physical standards and physical efficiency test requirements for candidates identifying as third gender will align with those set for female candidates.
- Character: Candidates must possess a clean moral character.
- Enrollment as Home Guards will be contingent upon the candidate’s agreement to serve a minimum of three years in the Home Guard Corps of Bihar.
Online Application Process – Bihar Home Guard 2025
The online application form for enrollment in the position of Home Guards will be available. Candidates can complete the online application at the website www.onlinebhg.bihar.gov.in, which will be accessible from March 27, 2025, until midnight on April 16, 2025. Selection Committee
The selection of Home Guards will be carried out by the District Home Guard Selection Committee, which is chaired by the District Officer of the respective district. The composition of this selection committee is outlined as follows:

Steps for Bihar Home Guard Nomination 2025
- Candidates are permitted to complete the application form solely for the district where they hold permanent residency. Should any candidate submit applications for multiple districts, all of their applications will be deemed invalid.
- Applicants must include several documents with their online application form: a permanent residence certificate, a Matriculation or equivalent certificate that verifies their date of birth, a passing certificate for the Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent examination, a marks certificate for the Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent examination, a caste certificate for reservation claims, and a certificate for economically weaker sections. It is essential for candidates claiming backward class or extremely backward class status to provide a creamy layer exemption certificate. For married women from reserved categories, only the caste certificate reflecting the father’s caste will be accepted.
