Madhya Pradesh Home Guard Recruitment 2025: According to Section 7 (1) of the Madhya Pradesh and Berar Home Guards Act of 1947, every Home Guard is required to fulfill designated responsibilities related to the safeguarding of individuals, the protection of property, and providing assistance in matters concerning public safety and welfare during their training and reserved service periods. In accordance with the relevant regulations, it is the obligation of each Home Guard to promptly follow and execute all directives issued by authorized personnel, gather information pertinent to public safety, relay it without delay to their superior officer, and deter any criminal activities against individuals or property (Section 7 (1) (A)).

The updated responsibilities of the Home Guards have been specified in the circular VI-14021/15/79-DGCD (HG) dated July 11, 1979, issued by the Director General of Civil Defence (Home Guards), under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, as follows:

  • Ensuring the protection of prominent individuals.
  • Supporting law and order as an auxiliary force to the police.
  • Assisting the administration and safeguarding life and property during emergencies such as air raids, fires, floods, earthquakes, and epidemics.
  • Fostering communal harmony and aiding the administration in protecting vulnerable segments of society.
  • Offering administrative support by engaging with the public through initiatives aimed at village improvement and public welfare.

Madhya Pradesh Home Guard Recruitment and Qualifications 2025

(a) Individuals must be aged between 19 and 40 years;
(b) Applicants should have a minimum height of 5 feet 4 inches and an unexpanded chest measurement of at least 31 inches;
(c) Candidates must meet the literacy requirements specified in the standing orders;
(d) Individuals who have never been sentenced to transportation, imprisonment, or corporal punishment for offenses involving moral turpitude are eligible, unless their conviction has been overturned through appeal or revision;
(e) Applicants must not have been dismissed for misconduct from any government service or local authority;
(f) Candidates should possess a good character;
(g) Individuals currently enrolled in any university or educational institution recognized by the Education Department of the Central Provinces and Berar are ineligible.

(2) Those interested in serving as a Nagar-sainik (Home Guard) and who meet the criteria outlined in sub-rule (1) may submit an application to the Senani (Commandant) of the Nagar-sena (Home Guards) in their district using Form A attached to these regulations, along with two certificates of good character and a medical certificate confirming physical fitness.

  • Khaki shirt.
  • Khaki shorts.
  • Trousers.
  • Hose tops.
  • Putties.
  • Forage cap (Kishti topi) or turban for Sikhs.
  • Steel helmet.
  • Black boots.
  • Stockings.
  • White shoes (when not in parade).
  • Khaki drill belt.
  • Buckles.
  • Shoulder titles and cap badge as approved by the Pradhan-Senani (Commandant-General).

(2) The following insignia shall be worn by the officers and ranks of the Nagar-sena (Home Guards):

  • (a) On the shoulder:
  • Pradhan-Senani (Commandant-General)—Two crossed swords and three stars.
  • Senani (Commandant)—Two crossed swords and one star.
  • Sanchalak (Adjutant)—Three stars.
  • Gan-pati (Company Commander)—Two stars.
  • Gulm-pati (Platoon Commander)—One star.
  • (b) On the arms:
  • Adhi-naik—Two chevrons with a star.
  • Naik—Two chevrons without a star.
  • Patti-naik—One chevron.
