What are the steps involved in the selection process for KVS?
- Step 1: Review the comprehensive list of eligible candidates prior to the lottery draw session.
- A lottery event is conducted in the presence of the candidates’ parents.
- The lottery draw is carried out by a committee appointed by the Principal.
- The lottery draw will be broadcast live on the school’s YouTube channel.
- Once the draw results are finalized, a complete list categorized by type will be uploaded in PDF format on the official school website.
What does ‘Draw of Lots’ refer to in KVS?
1st Draw of Lots: The first allocation involves filling 10 seats in Class I per section, which constitutes 25% of the total 40 seats, in accordance with the provisions of the Right to Education (RTE). These 10 seats will be filled through a lottery system from the pool of applications submitted by residents of the neighborhood belonging to SC/ST/EWS/BPL/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and Children with Special Needs (CwSN).
2nd Draw of Lots: A lottery will be conducted for Children with Special Needs from the categories of SC/ST/OBC-NCL and Unreserved, following the established priority categories.
3rd Draw of Lots: The remaining seats, after accounting for applicants from RTE and CwSN, will be filled according to the existing priority categories of Cat-1 and Cat-2 (or Cat-1 to Cat-3 in the case of Project/IHL KV), up to the sanctioned capacity or until all registered candidates from these categories are accommodated.
4th Draw of Lots: The total number of SC/ST/OBC-NCL admissions will be calculated based on the admitted summary from RTE, DA, Cat-1, and Cat-2 (or Cat-1 to Cat-3 for Project/IHL KV) up to the third phase. Any shortfall in the reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC-NCL will be addressed by admitting applicants from these categories according to the established admission priorities, regardless of the sanctioned strength.
5th Draw of Lots: If, after completing all previous steps, there are still vacant seats that do not meet the sanctioned strength, applicants from Priority Cat-3 (or Cat-4 in Project/IHL KV) will be considered for admission based on the existing priority list for unreserved seats. Any unfilled reserved seats for RTE/SC/ST/OBC (NCL) must remain vacant.
