Eligibility for the RTE Act is available to applicants whose family’s total annual income from all sources does not exceed Rs 72,000. This provision is applicable to the entry level of non-aided private schools (excluding minority institutions) situated within a radius of 1 km, 3 km, and ultimately up to 6 km from the applicant’s home. The age criteria for admission to nursery/LKG range from 3 years and 6 months to 4 years and 6 months, while for class 1, the age must be between 5 years and 6 months to 7 years. The cutoff date for assessing age eligibility is 31st March 2025.
